FAQ
Questions about glass, windows and doors
What does Glass by Derrick do?
Glass by Derrick is a Burlington-based, owner-run company that does three things for homeowners: replaces foggy or cracked window glass (sealed glass units, also called thermal glass) in Decora, Newmar and other vinyl windows, replaces whole vinyl windows, and replaces front entry doors with new fiberglass doors. We serve Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Hamilton and nearby towns.
How much does it cost to replace foggy window glass?
Pricing depends on the size of the glass. Most sealed glass units cost between $110 and $400 each, and a typical window unit is around $215. Interior grilles between the glass are $8 per grille square (each opening in the grid). Text a photo and rough measurements to 905-638-0117 for a free quote.
Can you fix a foggy window without replacing the whole window?
Yes, in most cases. Fog between the panes means the seal on the glass unit has failed. If the frame is still in good shape, we replace just the sealed glass unit and keep your frame, which usually costs less than a new window.
Do you replace the glass in Decora windows?
Yes. Decora and Newmar windows are our main focus for glass replacement. Every new sealed unit we put in is made with LoE-366 glass, which is far better than the original builder glass and blocks 95% of UV rays.
Do you do window glass replacement in Burlington and Oakville?
Yes. We're based in Burlington and replace window glass across Burlington and Oakville, including Alton Village, Upper Glen Abbey, Lakeshore Woods and Joshua Creek, where many homes were built with Decora or Newmar windows.
Do you replace whole windows in Burlington?
Yes. When the frame is cracked, warped or won't close properly, we replace the whole window with a new vinyl window. We work in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Hamilton.
Do you install new front doors?
Yes. We replace entry doors with new fiberglass doors, including sidelites, transoms and decorative or wrought-iron glass. We can also replace old double doors with one wide single door.
How do I get a quote?
Text a photo of the window or door and your town to 905-638-0117, call the same number, or email [email protected]. Quotes are free.
